This office should not be confused with the Circuit Court Clerk at the Washington County Judicial Center. The Circuit Court Clerk manages Circuit, District, Family, and Business Court case files. Washington County County Clerk Records

It also says document indexes are available for most document types back to 1960, with some exceptions, and document images are available online for most instrument filings from January 1960 to the current date, with exceptions.

Online real-estate and related records include deeds, name changes, mechanics liens, mortgages, powers of attorney, wills, corporations, tax liens, military discharges, trademarks, assignments, releases, marriages, and delinquent property taxes. These are recorded instruments, not the full court case file. A recorded will can be a County Clerk document while a probate case file belongs to the court system.

Washington County links online public record access through eCCLIX. The clerk records page says access to eCCLIX record indices and document images is available from the website, but an account and password must be assigned by Software Management, LLC, the website administrator. Access fees are charged for using online data and images.

The same official page states that all public records, documents, and indices are available for viewing in the Washington County Clerk's office free of charge. That distinction is important. eCCLIX can save a trip for an account holder, but the free local viewing channel remains the County Clerk's office. For a person who only needs one record and does not have an account, in-office viewing or a written request may be the better path.

Washington County Open Records Requests

The Washington County Clerk open-records policy says requests should be submitted in writing or by email. A request should include the requester's name, address, and signature; a description of the records to be copied or inspected; and a statement regarding residency. A phone number or email is not required by the policy, but the office says it may help process the request.

Requests can be hand-delivered, mailed, faxed, or emailed. Emailed requests go to washingtoncountyclerk@ky.gov. The policy says the office makes a determination within five working days from receipt, excluding Saturdays, Sundays, and legal holidays. Washington County Marriage Records

Marriage licenses and certified marriage copies are County Clerk records in Washington County. Both parties must apply together, and the clerk page lists accepted identification as a driver's license, government-issued picture ID, original birth certificate, passport, or Social Security card. The page also asks for the correct spelling of each parent's names, including the mother's full maiden name. There is no waiting period, blood test, or physical requirement.

A Kentucky marriage license is valid for 30 days, including the issue date. It is valid anywhere in Kentucky and cannot be used outside the Commonwealth. If the marriage is not solemnized within 30 days, the parties must apply for a new license. Certified copies may be requested in person or by mail from the County Clerk.
